About the MBCA Desert Stars Section

Chartered in 1962, the Desert Stars section's membership is predominantly from Central and Northern Arizona. It is one of the oldest and largest sections in the Mercedes Benz Club of America. It is centered in Phoenix but events are held all over Arizona and the southwestern United States.

The Desert Stars pride themselves in their local activities, but are also strong supporters of the national organization. The section has provided two national presidents and numerous officers and directors for the national board of the MBCA.

During the months of September through June, the Section holds at least one event per month and sometimes more. Some of our perennial favorite events are:

  •    Our premier rallye weekend, Havasupai, in late September or early October;
  •    Our Holiday Party, usually the first Sunday of December;
  •    Our Family Picnic in March

During the summer months it is usually too hot in the desert for an event so we have our annual "Escape From the Heat" event in August, where we go up into Arizona's high country for a weekend of cool temperatures.

Administratively, the section publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, the StarDust, to keep our members informed of both upcoming and past events and Section and MBCA matters of interest. It is also posted on our Section website a few days before being mailed to the Section membership. The Section's Board meets monthly during the months of September thought May on the third Tuesday of each month. Members and perspective members are welcome and encouraged to attend these meeting. We only ask that one of the Section Officers is contacted in advance, since space is limited.
